How is this for our first “non-gluten” apple pie, eh?…. : )
And in our salad, today, I see a red tropical bird (beak and chest are orange)… Do you “kind’a” see it?

“Isabel”, Karen and Jackie at Huber’s INN Port Townsend… : )
Three years young, vivacious and tail wagging, “Isabel” had such a good stay at Huber’s INN, with her “Mom” Karen, and “Auntie” Jackie (in this pic ; ) …That she HAD to absolutely recommend us to her beautiful and elderly friend “June” (as well black, shinny, wagging and 11 years old Labrador) and her “Parents”, Beth and Richard (Also owners of a Bed and Breakfast in Forks! ; )…who had lovingly considered every comfort for lovely “June”!
It was delightful to meet them all; and to celebrate Beth and Richard, Karen and Jackie, and “Izzy” and “June” coming to make and find new memories in our beautiful Port Townsend.

“ENAMORADA”
Por Anita Sáinz
- Nov. 9 de 1939-
Yo me dejé llevar por tu mirada
Tu mirada atrayente y seductora
Que despertó mi alma adormecida
Cautivada por tí, por tu mirada
Bésame por favor
No digas nada
Guarda el secreto de mi amor
Y llévame contigo enamorada
Anita…

Jackie, Jay, Christopher, Carol and Carmi...
Dear Poets,
Today we finished our third kasen renku, A Skein of Old Yarn, at the Huber Inn, celebrating with cups of sake and tea. Always a great pleasure to get together at your home, Leticia. Thank you! Tenzing, we missed you! So sorry you weren’t feeling well.
I’ll paste the finished version below, and attach its templates. (Hope you can open them!) And if you see any things to polish up, lemme know.
We also got started on a new kasen renku, spring this time. Four verses on paper at this point. I’ll include those below as well, along with a suggested revision and guidelines for the fifth stanza. We should decide upon a place to meet next time and a date. I think Thursday the 20th would be a good bet. And if no one else can host, you are always welcome here at our home.

The Renku Poetry Party, gathered at Huber's INN to close a cycle (and start a new one!; )
Okay, so here is the just-finished renku:

Celebratory sake, exquisite munchies, coffee, tea, cammaraderie AND... fascination for words!
* * * * *
And here are the first four verses in our new, spring renku. Present at this first party were Leticia Huber, Carmi Soifer, Doris Thurston, Jackie Barr, Jay Haskins, Carol O’Dell, and Christopher Herold.
PS I just noticed an awful lot of first person here. Too much. And so I wonder if you might consider changing “us” in Carmi’s stanza to “them.” ? ? ? a nearby tugboat / passes them on the river
We might also consider dropping “our” from Jackie’s stanza. Y’think? Let me know your thoughts on t his.
Christopher

.
4 n/s (Carmi)
.
a nearby tugboat

.
5 autumn moon
.
Three-line stanza. We should try to come inside for this one even though, yes, its easier to write moon poems that take place outside. Also, lets try to write a scene unpopulated by people.
.

Christopher has just received a note with a stanza...Will it make it into the poem...?

Dori and Tom own the coolest place in New Jersey: “The Stirling Hotel” -established in 1903. http://www.thestirlinghotel.com

This time, their travel brought them to California, and up Oregon and Washington State…AND… To Huber’s INN Port Townsend itself!…Where we caught them in this picture -special for this 14th of February, or what? ; )…Much fun to share their passion for photography, and cooking, and traveling, and family (all sprinkled with laughter : )
And for those of you who love the KINGS OF LEON Band, some VERY fun news:
Know these two are brand new Parents-In-Law to Nathan -the drummer of the band- His bride, Jessie Baylin (their bright, gorgeous daughter) as a gift for him, wrote “Christmas Missus” (?) Correct me if title is wrong, please…How about that?
They loved Port Townsend : ) -particularly, The delicious “Kuh-Larb” Thai Restaurant and the cool-funky “Under-Town Cafe” , Down Town : )
We loved to cater to such delightful Ones!
