And we got our Christmas tree by Galatea’s fountain!!! : )

In Port Townsend, you really have to be veeeery alert, because ANY MAGIC can happen here!!!

Just last Friday, I was to turn a corner Down Town; Santa had just gone by, in front of my very eyes, to light our official Port Townsend Christmas Tree (down here) Yet, more wonders were coming my way, as I pondered about Santa and his many “Santa Hated” suitors… When these hefty “thump-thump” “Jingle-jingle” sounds called for my immediate attention. I barely made it!…I almost got on the way of a HORSE CARRIAGE!

Galatea can now “write to Santa” for some presents under her tree! : )

At Huber’s INN Port Townsend, Casio & Adeline and Scott and Terri…

Coming from far and near, this group came to find interesting similarities around the breakfast table…

Robert and I are vegetarians ;

Gorgeous Terri is celebrating her 50th year of lovely life, choosing a wise and vegan diet -That Scott has found both: intelligent AND delicious!

.

Adelaide and Casio -and ourselves- met twice in 1 evening: Once Down Town, enjoying art -in the PT Gallery Walk of every 1st Sat. of the month…Then, we met again at the Food Co-op!…So we’ve beautifully discovered each other’s hearts through our common likings !!! : )

.

Scott, being more of a scientist mind, also has been discovering the advantages of such a concept as veganism in the context of science, and how it benefits the person, the community of the person, the environment AND the Planet with all of the above…

.

When I asked Terri WHY vegan?…Why not eggs or milk products, for instance? (Hens lay eggs and cows produce extra milk anyway…) She kindly offered me a deep realization: Hens and cows do produce these goods in abundance naturally…YET, I realized, when our consumption goes beyond what these hens or cows might naturally produce in abundance, greed takes over, and love goes out the door of the natural chicken coop, or stable…

With greed, torture comes for such creatures, who from then on, are deprived of their right to be who their are….Then greed (” Corporate business”) sees them no longer as live creatures -with needs and pleasures of their own- rather takes their alive quality away, and sees them as machines to produce, and their well being is totally out of the question.

Their products are less healthy for this, of course…and the animals themselves, die a harsh death -one hour at a time- of their short and deprived lives.

No One who actually knew their tortures, would collaborate with those who torture them in the name of “Business as usual”.

I see something shifted within me…

Terri chose veganism that’s also free of gluten and dairy products…Not an easy fit, we think … yet, when you see this darling couple, you don’t find it so difficult to want to give her diet a try (if these are the results!…hahahaha!!!)

.

Terri left us with a “homework”…Robert and I will gladly watch the movie Terri suggested to us: “Forks Over Knives” (I thought vegetarians (forks) over carnivorous (knives)…No!…It’s actually: “forks” for our wisely enjoyed food, over Doctor’s knives and scalpels on us!!!!…Wow!

Relaxed, renewed and happy, they went back home!

We feel so lucky they chose us!…They are such an inspiring couple…caring and attentive to each other….

We all had such a good time together in celebration of caring relationships…

Delightful company -and very animated breakfast conversation amongst these lovely 5 persons…

After a week of hiking experiences in the company of his son; Jim, Professor at Washington University,  came to PT -from his Seattle City- to present a lecture on the relation he sees (and documents)  between pick-oil, economic melt-down, and climate change for the Power Luncheons held here, at the North West Maritime Center, in Port Townsend…Beautiful Pam, his wife, enjoyed accompanying him to our lovely City …

Verna, Gary and Becky, brought their zest and witty conversations from beautiful Alberta, in Canada.

Our privilege to meet them all…And our delight to come to find that they (as we) value family relations highly and dearly! : )

.The beautiful couple came to Port Townsend NOT for the splendid Blues going on then…They came to celebrate love -in the marriage of two young musician friends of theirs…

The unconventional wedding was all designed by the marrying couple, themselves: Outside, spontaneous, heart-felt….

It was a pleasure to share a bit of what they told us of the event…But, the best part, was to share the spark in their eyes!

Our guest at Huber’s INN, Prof. James W. Murray – of the University of Washington is greeted by Brian Goldstein, Resource Conservation Manager at Jefferson County; Deborah Stinson, City Council candidate and Judy Surber, Senior Planer with the City of Port Townsend.

The three are members of the City’s “Energy and Climate Action” program,  to discuss, over coffee and cookies, some subjects linking (i) limits on global fossil fuel supplies, (ii) changes in global climate patterns,  (iii) imbalances in the distribution of global wealth… Can each provide the most compelling reason for local action planning?…What do YOU think?…
