At 3 pm sharp we met at the lovely INN at McCurdy House. We much enjoyed a short “tour” of the property, and sat down to “work” at the charming Mediterranean colored dinning room…
Christina Pivarnik -our City Marketing Expert- provided a well prepared printed packet of information…
To each of us…
Heading the table was our gracious Hostess: Kathy Rowe. To her right, Edel was taking a few notes. I was up and busy taking these pictures. Then, there was Kevin Harris…
Christina introduced herself, and lost not time…
She said, smilingly, that what she likes more of her job, is to feel that we all, working together, are actually members of the same team…
At some other point, she introduced Steve Shively -from Fort Worden- as the eldest “chair” in the LTAC (bed-tax-dollars…as Edel calls them) board…
Also Steve and Julie were also representing a group they are actively promoting: The Culinary Loop….
Here Edel, Kathy -our darling hostess and Delle were capturing attentively the many pieces of important information Christina shared with us then…
Amongst the new promotional items that the City has created, Christina demonstrated in good humor, this fun piece…Where people can take a picture of themselves as integral part of “Their” Washington!…George Randel (Deputy Mayor of our City) and the rest of us, enjoyed it, and had a good time with the sign.
We had a most informative meeting (recording to eventually come to our www.INNtimatePortTownsend.com site). We did. Yet, we also had a great time in a most beautiful sunny Port Townsend Thursday!
Much to learn and discuss, and optimize.
With Kevin, Edel, Kathy, and “yours truly” we came up with Thursday, May 12, at 3 pm as our next meeting date…The place is still to be determined…Please save the date in your calendar! ; )
That’s all for now! : )

What a great pool of brilliancy -when you get Port Townsend heads working together!!!
Laura , Teresa ., Julie, Bob & Edel….
Teresa said: “My task for you is look into GroupOn, Figure out what you can offer…The Chamber will put together the pieces by contacting any necessary organizations…”
With Jim, Gail, Ann, Robert and yours truly: Leticia; we talked about the splendid timing and the goodness of the existence of the Port Townsend Small INNs Group when it comes to maximum exposure -and minimum expense- for group advertising…
Teresa stated that the core of her work is ” to net-work and better communicate with our group -and the other groups in Town, and help us with the Chamber Tools to work better, easier, more productively.”
Jointly, we decided we want such things as to:
Explore GROUPON in a very creative and all inclusive possibility for the FALL ( October ) Who’s gonna be in it?
Maximize the benefits of The Chamber’s website with events already existing and build upon those to bring in more tourism
There’s momentum happening!!!
Create an INNtimate Port Townsend card…have it available at the Seattle Ferry Terminal card post for $25 a mo.
Fam-Tour for the Main Street people to come and experience the B&B’s we own in town
Use the empty rental spaces creatively
Create a Calendar of Celebrations: Week of the Mother/daughter travelers…for the Ya-ya-Sisters travelers…for the cyclist couples…for the bird watching families…for the sailing families/friends…etc…
The conversation was inspiring and animated…
“Let’s have our Restaurants and Retailers NOT closing at 6 pm” said brilliant Jim
Bob also brought to our attention the changes the “reservation system” brought to town, diminishing the time the visitors spend in PT
Teresa and Laura talked about Webervations -and the advantages it can bring to us….I will keep you posted on that, since I will attend a class tomorrow…
I would have never figured this edible as quite an astounding flower…would you?
If you know the name of it, please tell us here on “comments”… : )

The original flavor of the brick work, frames the beauty of this old wooden door -and window.
That invites you to enter and savor the details in everything you encounter in this elegantl Livable Art Space…
Here the testimony of the times honored in this impeccable architectural project…
Its front entry links you clearly to a past of commercial ships, and canneries of freshly fished clams of the area…
but the insides spark with the incomparable elegance of fine workmanship -whether in the woods of windows, floors and furniture…
or applied in metals, magnificient flower vases or stones of marvel!…
Each a different living- art expression…
Many words have been said about this place extraordinaire…but there is no description that conveys the refreshing feeling of peace, of loving care and comfort you feel within this spaces…
Whether an immaculate, luxurious, nesting bed in the finest woods (caressed a thousand times by loving artisan’s hands)
Or the double Travertino sinks -that honor old European traditions, with the simple elegance of a Nordic design…
Or the hand-hammered copper doors -true sculptures that welcome you into your space in the Clam Cannery Hotel
The maximum finesse in a lamp or a painting…
The furniture art pieces -that offer the magic of their texture and hand craftsmanship… And the windows!
Such views from the windows!…
Such views from your bed!…
Each space different from the other…
Even the “extra bed” is a feast of luxury and comfort…
While the kitchen contrasts wood, glass and metals in a true symphony of simple perfection…
All details honored. All details thought…
And the eternal magic of the waters, is celebrated in this rare combination of hand crafted metals…
Local Star Fish and other local beach shells, with the power of glass -thick as the length of my thumb- to embrace them and hold them as part of this dream of love applied. Of art made livable. Of infinite care. Of sincere welcome.
This historical place that the heart and minds of Kevin Harris, and his wife Rebecka have created out of inspiration, determination, love of our City and love of art, materials and people, compares to any five star place in the world…and its beauty -and affordability amongst the dream-places in the world, is their gift to Port Townsend.
Being Tim’s birthday, Robert Huber presented their breakfast table with his special “Carved Pineapple” – after we all had sung the “H.A.P.P.Y.” song with gusto!
For him an Impressionist version of the view from the INN’s windows -with the 2 swans that have graced our lagoon this year!
(And since the PT Kinetic Festival is coming next month… to further celebrate, we promise you a pic/video of the P.T. Kinetic Sculpture Parade here pretty soon! ; )
