Erin Lau, grandchild of a Chinese couple who in their tender youth, due to the 2nd World War, needed to abandon their native country -and find themselves a new “HOME”.
I write “home” with capitals, because I sense it’s huge importance: There was no possible way back. They left a kind of life; and if they wanted to keep life -at all, they had to fully embrace it in a different place, under a totally different form!
Only the very brave achieved this.
This young couple did.
This Chinese couple moved across the ocean vast, all the way to the country of Guatemala.
He had been there before.
She, faithfully, followed him -as his young bride.
There, they not only embraced life into a different culture and ways…they also had Guatemaltecans!!!…6 of them!
Graciela, the young bride -mother of 6 children after -and yet later, grand mother to-be of Erin Lau, her sister and cousins, had no easy way into it. But she overcame every obstacle graciously (hence her name “Graciela” “Full of Grace”? She embraced every embrace. She loved every love, grateful to her new country.
Yet, her heart…Who knows which secret songs it remembered? Which different landscapes she longed for…?
And her grand-daughter does go into that yearning heart, to gift it with love, with understanding, with compassion, with music, with images…
In honor of her grand mother, generous, talented and splendid presentation by Erin Lau and a few of her friends: Katrina, Gustavo and Sam.

The early stages of life…For Nature -and her grand-mother… (Erin, composer, singer)
Erin, singing…Gustavo, playing the Flamenco Guitar for her…
Now her ancestors are settled in their new HOME -as golden fish in new waters…
Even if it’s not quite “the same”…It’ll have to do…
Sam plays the “cajón”, Katrina and Erin sing…
Erin also plays the tambourine for this song…
In this song’s art, I, see a bit of Erin’s face in the face of Graciela, her grand-mother, barely settling into new rhythms of life…
But it’s not always easy, and Graciela, secretly longs for what was known and dear…
And Erin’s song shares Graciela’s commitment to daily tasks, one after the other, not to let her think back into her dear past…
And she is gracious and capable and grateful and loving… Yet…
The grief of her past ‘stolen” by wars she didn’t ask for, never let go of her…
Thus, Graciela thrived only for so long…
Seeing her children grown and free, she let go of life, in her early 60′s – in great astonishment to find life so short!
And, lovingly asks her daughter-in-law, Maureen, to please live a life she (Graciela) would had lived!
Moving and powerful, Erin received a large group of us, in the beautiful building of the Performing Chapel of The Good Shepherd Center, in Seattle.
She was splendid; yet found time for each of us : )
Specially joyful with Sam, her boyfriend -and “cajón” player.
She and Sam have all the reasons to be so beaming!

account for your use.
However, this prize has rules, just as any game has certain rules.
The first set of rules would be:
Everything that you didn’t spend during each day would be taken away from you.
You may not simply transfer money into some other account.
You may only spend it.
Each morning upon awakening, the bank opens your account with another $86,400.00 for that day.
The second set of rules:
The bank can end the game without warning; at any time it can say,
‘Its over, the game is over’!
It can close the account and you will not receive a new one.
What would you personally do?
You would buy anything and everything you wanted, right?
Not only for yourself, but for all people you love, right?
Even for people you don’t know, because you couldn’t possibly spend it all on yourself, right?
You would try to spend every cent, and use it all, right?
ACTUALLY, this GAME is REALITY!
Each of us is in possession of such a magical bank.
We just can’t seem to see it.
The MAGICAL BANK is TIME!
Each morning we awaken to receive 86,400 seconds as a gift of life, and when we go to sleep at night,
any remaining time is NOT credited to us.
What we haven’t lived up to that day is forever lost.
Yesterday is forever gone.
Each morning the account is refilled, but the bank can close your account at any time….WITHOUT WARNING.
So,…. What will YOU do with your 86,400 seconds????????????????
Aren’t they worth so much more than the same amount in dollars?
Think about that, and always make the most of every second of your life.
Time passes by much quicker than we realize.
