Political Calibre… : )
In Port Townsend, John Austin celebrated a gathering -at the UpStage Restaurant and Theater- to officially announce his intention to run again as Jefferson County Commissioner.
His involvement in the protection of our parks and woods has been as valiant, as it has been efficient and remarkable.
This is a man with no shields. He wears his heart: No fear! No hiding.
John is loyal friend, committed citizen, talented poet, caring family man, seasoned politician, kind person, bright planner, and joyful “buddy” of musicians and artists, all at once. Always!
A whole man.
His fellow County Commissioners, David Sullivan and Phil Johnson were there, sporting big buttons supporting the re-election of John Austin.
In town, we each feel -with good reasons- John is our personal friend…
No one is unattended in his presence...
David Sullivan was part of the trio of fellow County Commissioners that night...
Master musicians, George and Matt prepare for their splendid performance that night
Phil Johnson was the third member of the trio of County Commissioners supporting the re-election of John Austin
Full house, good food, and good "vibes" all through...
John Austin is a respected and very dear name in town...
Bright and beautiful County Clerk Ruth Gordon took the mic for her friend John...
At the event, John himself spoke few, yet, profoundly informed and heart felt words sharing what has been his mission with our beautiful INDISPENSABLE parks in our lovely region -and how, to further it, he intends to re-assume the many responsibilities of a Jefferson County Commissioner!
Moving gesture.
I find that running once for office implies a lot of qualities already… now, running for a second term, requires true commitment!
He does. He is committed.
We are fortunate and appreciative to find such a man, amongst us.
In fact, although his official re-election campaign will start later in the year (August?) out of respect and admiration and love for John, you start seeing posts supporting his re-election intentions around town : )
Thank you for who you are, John! (And Cynthia, for “holding his hand” through all of these periods of public life and service ; )
