CelebratingTim Siemer’s B☼Day at the Huber’s INN Morning Table…

CIMG7063

Being Tim’s birthday, Robert Huber presented their breakfast table with his special “Carved Pineapple” – after we all had sung the “H.A.P.P.Y.” song with gusto!

CIMG7053

For him an Impressionist version of the view from the INN’s windows -with the 2 swans that have graced our lagoon this year!

(And since the PT Kinetic Festival is coming next month… to further celebrate,  we promise you a pic/video of the  P.T. Kinetic Sculpture Parade here pretty soon!  ; )

RENKU POETRY GROUP Meets at the Huber’s INN Port Townsend

CIMG6752Master Poet Christopher Herold presides the creative table.  J.J., poet and artist, and Carol sit by his left…

CIMG6753Creativity and form find a most conscious balance in this ancient art of Renky Poetry. Lots  to ask and consult with each other…

CIMG6754Verbal, and literary consultations are required and welcome. Here Master Karma Tenzing Wangchuk is finding pertinent information…

CIMG6757

EveryOne is envolved…

CIMG6760

Suggestions and ideas are invited to freedom -curiosly possible within a most strict set of rules, favoring novelty, quality, variety, and mostly, awareness…

CIMG6761The group is open and welcoming. It gathers once every month, and fosters the most delightful society, and fun…

CIMG6764Friendship, food, drink and colaboration are the norm…

CIMG6765

Interestingly, after each Poetry stanza is accomplished and unanimously approved, it is shared as “the new” part of the ongoing Renku Poem…And invariable, the feeling seems delicious to me!

If you are curious and/or interested in contacting this splendid and unique group -which honors the intellect and spirit  of Port Townsend with its existence, please ad your comment here with your e-mail. I’ll promptly answer you, and get you in touch with Christopher and Karma Tenzing.

CHEERS FOR RENKU!!!

On going poem of the Port Townsend RENKU Poetry Group:

A SKEIN OF OLD YARN
(an autumn kasen renku)
begun on August 20 at the Huber Inn
Sabaki: Christopher Herold
Jay Haskins, Leticia Huber, Karma Tenzing Wangchuk, Carmi Soifer, Bethel, Jackie Barr, Alison Hedlund, Carol O’Dell, Doris Thurston, Tanya McDonald
1 autumn  (Jay)
morning light
dragonflies barely ripple
the lagoon
2 autumn moon  (Leticia)
does this warmth
come from you, O moon?
3 autumn (Tenzing)
the scarecrow’s
lost a button or two
off his coat
4 No Season  (Carmi)
my neighbor weaves
a skein of old yarn
5 winter  (Bethel)
in his cold hut
the hermit prepares
rosehip tea  (Bethel)
6 winter  (Jackie)
a rare visitor leaves
footprints in the snow
7 No Season (Alison)
just inside the door
lies an envelope
with a foreign stamp
8 No Season (Jay)
bits of paper protrude
from the eagle’s nest
9 Love (Jackie)
her new bikini
causes his eyes to bug out
and his heart to flutter
10 love (Jackie)
the scent of perfume
wafts from the dryer
11 love (Carol)
as I read my book
I hear her sing a lullaby
to our daughter
12 No Season  (Jay)
if clouds could speak
these would whisper
13 summer moon  (Doris)
summer moon
swallowed
by the mountain
14 summer  (Tanya)
bats begin to swoop
all around the camp
15 No Season  (Carol)
three girls
race for the white horse
on the carousel

Restaurants & Cooks

Say which is your best, most, super-favorite PT restaurant (and… Y?)

“T’s”
"T's"
Now we know “T’s” is called “T’s” because it belongs to a Chef: Tim

Under the golden light of the afternoon sun raising our P.T. temperatures to a divine summer evening, we wanted a special place to share dinner with our dearest friend, Chuck -who traveled 1,500 miles to come with us, and sail once more with Robert…This time, in the very Puget Sound!

He wanted to take us out for dinner.

We wanted excellent “cuisine”, granted; but also a lovely place with views of the Puget Sound -and the sailing boats gracing the waters…

Of course, “T’s” in Hudson Point!

The place was in much demand…and with reason: It is in the best taste, charming, spacious and surrounded by the waters -with, at this time, many, many “sleepy” sail boats to charm them.

We had a reservation for 3 at 7:00 pm.

Servers were very young, dedicated and fun. (Will be good to come in a few months, when their experience matches their enthusiasm, and their lovely smiles)

We chose to stay inside (although the terrace was tempting). Our table permitted also the view of the impressive Mount Baker, and The Cascades.

Chuck ordered the “Cesar Salad” and the “Prawns with Rice”. Robert “Cappellini al Pesto”. I “Caramelized Onion Soup” and “Mushroom Strudel”.

My caramelized onion soup was a very good start for me: excellent onion soup.

Sleepy sailboats at Point Hudson...

My “mushroom strudel” was beautifully served, interesting, and flavorful…This vegetarian was content!

Robert’s “capellini” were plentiful and delicious (I took a couple of bites -if you excuse…). Another happy vegetarian.

Chuck’s “Cesar”…unfortunately, nothing to write home about.
His “Prawns with Rice” were “very nice”, he reported. Maybe a few less prawns than he would have desired?

We shared a memorable marionberry cheese-cake. Lovely, delicious and very well presented.

In all, a keen experience.

Since prices are a little on the “high range”, we’ll save the place for some of our special occasions.

Not to be missed, though.

Glad to have enjoyed it in a golden summer evening in the marvelous company of friendship!

Always love,light and laughter;
Leticia Huber : )
